Please time
your arrival at school for 8:55 - 9:00 for the morning class
and 12:25 12:30 for the afternoon class. (Because of our
security policy, the doors will be locked during school
hours, and if your child is late, you will have to ring a
doorbell for a staff member to let you in.) All children
should be escorted by the parent to the classroom. The
school cannot be responsible for your child until he or she
is received by the classroom teacher or teacher assistant.
At dismissal time, wait in the hall near your child's
classroom. Be sure to be there no later than 11:30 for the
morning class, and 3:00 for the afternoon class. We are
sorry to do this, but we are forced to charge you a late fee
if you are habitually tardy in picking up your child!
Please dress
your child for play! Nursery school is active and sometimes
messy. A child whose clothes and shoes are suitable for play
will be able to participate freely in all that Kingdom Kids
Nursery School (KKNS) has to offer. Please label backpack,
lunch box, and all ALL outerwear with your child's name.
Many items are exactly alike, and it is impossible to
determine ownership without a name or label of some type.
Parents will
be asked to sign up to bring in a snack for the class. We
ask that the snack be as healthy as possible. Because nut
allergies and choking can be a problem, KKNS has a "no nuts"
policy for snacks (check the label for peanut oil). If your
child has food allergies or special dietary requirements, we
ask that you provide a daily snack for your child.
We want your
child to feel special on his or her birthday by letting them
bring in a special treat (no hats, party favors, party horns
or special decorations, please). If you want to send a
special treat in to celebrate, please notify the teacher in
writing a week in advance. If your child has a summer
birthday, we would be glad to celebrate their half-birthday!
If you bring in a treat, please be sure they are the SAME,
and that they are able to be served individually (no cakes
that require cutting or cup cakes, please). Some suggestions
are donuts, cookies, ice cream in individual cups with
plastic spoons, fruit or snack cakes. Again, if your child
has food allergies or special dietary requirements, we ask
that you provide a daily snack for your child. We ask that
your child not bring birthday party invitations to school
unless there is one for each member of the class. Remember
to ask your child to be careful to not discuss party - plans
in front of the class unless all members are invited to the
party.
In case of
inclement weather, school may be closed or delayed by the
discretion of the Director.
Kingdom Kids Nursery
School will follow the Mt. Lebanon Public Schools with
regard to weather delays and cancellations. Kingdom Kids,
Mt. Lebanon will also be listed by
http://www.kdka.com and
http://www.wpxi.com for
weather information.
Delays or closings
will be also broadcast on the Mt. Lebanon Cable Access
Channel,
listed as "Kingdom Kids Mt. Lebanon". The afternoon class
must be especially careful to listen to see if their class
is also cancelled. If you are still unsure of the status of KKNS, you may call the class parent (phone captain) who will
be designated some time this fall for this responsibility.
They will not call you, but you may contact them if
necessary.
Our school
calendar allows for three snow/emergency days, again at the
discretion of the Director. Any additional days will be made
up during the school year with sufficient notification. In
case of an emergency such as problems with the building (a
water break, furnace difficulties, etc.), you will be
notified by phone when possible.
Rarely, in the
case of an emergency, we may be forced to release your child
before the end of the school day (weather, building-related,
etc.). We will contact only the people on your emergency
form, and will only release your child to that person. Be
careful to include all people whom would feel comfortable in
this role on your transportation form. Try to include cell
phone numbers when possible. In all of these situations, the
Director will attempt to send an email to all of those who
have provided email addresses.
Your child is
encouraged to share his newly acquired or old and dear
"treasure" with his teacher and classmates on this
especially appointed day. We try to have at least one day
per month set aside for this activity. Please read the
weekly newsletter written by your teacher for information
about the theme and date for Show and Tell. We have a
"non-violent" playthings rule at KKNS. Even if the toy is
not intended for violence of any kind (a fire fighter's
hatchet, for example), please use good judgment by not send
anything that could be used in a violent way, such as
weapons and action figures.
Unless
requested by the teacher, we also ask that your child not
bring other toys and personal items from home to the class.
Other than on Show and Tell day, any personal item your
child brings must remain in his or her backpack. Toys from
home can cause difficult "sharing issues". And we would hate
for something from home to be broken by mistake.
If you decide to form car
pools, please inform your teacher in writing, so she will
know who to release your child to. If your child has a
consistent "play date" after school, consider putting that
parent on your transportation form.
