A Typical Day

Kingdom Kids mission is encouraging children to participate in God’s kingdom by equipping them spiritually, academically and socially. All of the children’s day to day activities reinforce this threefold target.

We believe prayer is an important part of the classroom. We seek to help the children realize that God is always available, and that they can go to Him for not only their needs and joys, but also for the needs and joys of others. Designed to further their spiritual growth, the children spend time learning about a different Fruit of the Spirit each month throughout the school year (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) – Galatians 3:22.

We teach and practice good manners and personal responsibility, such as saying "please", "thank you", and "I'm sorry". The children learn to put toys away and help to clean up. School behaviors are also established, such as listening while others speak, pushing chairs in, waiting patiently when necessary, walking in line, and taking turns.

All classes join together weekly for a high-energy music time where the children, accompanied by the piano and/or guitar, learn "classic" kids songs, as well as praise and worship songs, complete with motion and movements! Parents, families, and friends are welcome to join us several times each year for "Kids Praise" where the children share all that they have learned.

A typical day at Kingdom Kids includes:

  • Interactive play - decision-making and social skills are learned and practiced
  • Opening exercises - calendar, prayer, weather, flag salute, Bible verse, job or "helper" duties are given and completed
  • Circle time - the teachers present the day's lessons and goals to the students, books are also read and discussed
  • Learning centers – pre-reading and writing skills are practiced, almost always involving a craft; the highly acclaimed “Handwriting Without Tears” is used in all classes
  • “Kids Praise” music time
  • "Big Room" time - active play in the Gym, as well as the " Kingdom Kids in Motion" program to develop gross-motor skills
  • Snack - healthy eating is encouraged; we are water drinkers and a ‘nut-free’ environment

In addition, the children have the option of staying for Lunch Bunch, which is available from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. More information on this program is found in The Classroom section of the website.
