About Kingdom Kids

Kingdom Kids Nursery School is an outreach ministry of Mt. Lebanon United Presbyterian Church (MLUPC). In 1988, a group of young MLUPC mothers, desiring a unique preschool experience for their children, approached the Director of Children’s Ministries with an inspired idea for a distinctly Christian preschool. What began with one class of a few children all those years ago has blossomed into a preschool with four classes and a teaching staff of eight dedicated women serving children three to five years of age.

Classes

Below is a short description of the variety of classes Kingdom Kids offers. We utilize traditional methods for kindergarten readiness with biblical principals and Christian values interwoven into each school day. We teach about Jesus, model His love to all of the children and their families and encourage the ‘Kingdom Kids’ to do the same for others.

School Leadership 

All classes are staffed with a teacher and a teacher's assistant to provide an ideal teacher to child ratio. The unique Kingdom Kids sessions provide age appropriate programs led by creative and skilled staff that offers each child a happy and warm environment where a love for learning can begin.

The heart of any great ministry and school is their dedicated and compassionate staff.  Kingdom Kids has taken great care to select individuals that embody these qualities and who serve as Christian role models for their students and community. Joyce Hannan-Story is the Director of Kingdom Kids. Additional staff for Kingdom Kids is as follows.

A Typical Day

Kingdom Kids mission is encouraging children to participate in God’s kingdom by equipping them spiritually, academically and socially. All of the children’s day to day activities reinforce this threefold target.

We believe prayer is an important part of the classroom. We seek to help the children realize that God is always available, and that they can go to Him for not only their needs and joys, but also for the needs and joys of others. Designed to further their spiritual growth, the children spend time learning about a different Fruit of the Spirit each month throughout the school year (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) – Galatians 3:22.

Kingdom Kids is located in MLUPC at the corner of Scott Road and Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon. Kingdom Kids address is 255 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15216.  We are housed on the ground level in the Christian Education Wing of the church.
